South Diana is a single-well gas condensate field in therndeepwater Gulf of Mexico (GOM). The reservoir consists ofrnturbidite unconsolidated sands separated by thin shales.rnGeomechanical characterization of South Diana core revealedrnhigh rock compressibility and potential for compaction-rninduced permeability reduction. This paper discusses variousrnmodeling studies conducted prior to field startup to assess thernimpact of rock compaction on well integrity and producibility.rnGeomechanical models, reservoir simulation studies, and corernmeasurements were used to develop physics-based integratedrnwell performance technical limits. These technical limits havernbeen used to successfully manage rock compaction relatedrnrisks to well integrity and producibility. Reservoir surveillancerndata and comparison with model predictions are discussed.rnReservoir management issues and insights gained from fieldrndata for this compacting deepwater reservoir are alsorndiscussed.
