Brightstar Environmental has developed a technology that integrates with existing community recycling programs, improves recyclable material recovery and converts residual municipal waste into clean renewable electric power, all at a price that is competitive with existing landfill prices. In addition, SWERF~(TM) eliminates the potential environmental liability of landfilling and replaces incineration as a viable waste to energy process. This technology is new and emerging from final development stages to full commerciality. From the first facility implemented in Wollongong, Australia, several communities around the globe are exploring the possibilities of adding a SWERF~(TM) facility to their waste management strategy.
