In this paper, Al-Ni foam manufactured by combustion reactions is presented. The effects of processing parameters (powder blending ratio and amount of foaming agent) on porosity and pore morphology of Al-Ni foams are discussed. The powder blending ratio of Al and Ni in the green compact is a very important factor to manufacture Al-Ni foams. The Al-Ni foams with uniform cell morphology can only be fabricated within an adequate range of the powder blending ratios. The proper amount of foaming agent can increase the porosity and the size of cells, and also stabilizes the uniformity of pore morphology. However, the excessive addition causes a severe reaction, which results in the collapse of cell walls and a decrease in porosity.
