摘要

A stability problem for a dilute sedimenting suspension (Koch & Shaqfeh 1989) is reconsidered. The unsteady effects cause the suspension to become unstable to particle concentration disturbances. The unsteady evolution of large-scale fluid flow is studied also using the numerical simulation of particles' motion in the periodic cell. Simulations demonstrate an instability of suspension. The work was supported by Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research (Grant No. 02-01-00149).
