摘要

Two different processing methods have been used to make bioactive glasses: melt and sol-gel processing. The melt processing produces dense glass while the glass derived by the sol-gel method is normally stabilized and possesses a porous structure and high surface area. In this study, melt and sol-gel derived glasses were reacted in various buffer solutions, the pH was monitored, and the rate of HCA formaiton was determined by Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The glasses were compared in terms of their bioactivity.
