The harman method was applied to measure thermal conductivity k of thermoelectric materials, and the reliability of the measured k was investigated. The quantitative k requires a highly sensitive technique to measure minute Peltier heat. Temperature difference by Peltier heat pumping was successfully measured by developing the DC method of resistance measurement. k of n-type Bi_2 Te_3 sintered compactt and n-type PbTe boules was measured at 295K by the harman method. Static comparative method was lso a;;oed to obtain the standard vaue of k. In the case of B_(i2)STe_3, the k by the harman method agreed well with the standard value. In the case of PbTe in the electron concentration n_3 range <5X10~(24)/m~3, the k almost agreed with the standard value. however, PbTe in the N_e range >=1 x 10~(25)/m~3 showed a larger k than the standard value. The harman method has an error to give the large k for the material with a large carrier compoonent k_3 of k. This error is due to the fast conduction of Peltier heat by the carrier. The reliable k can be measured for the material with a small k_e.
