摘要

The imidzolinones control weeds at 32 to 125 g/ha,makign htem some of the most potent herbiides on the akrdet.They kill plants by inhibiting acetohydroxyacid synthase (AHAS),the first ocmmon enzyme int he branched chain amino acid biosynthetic pathway.Mode of action stuidfes suggest that factors in addition to the potency at the target site are importnt in detemrining herbicidal activity.THese factors inlcude the absrption and translication prpeties of the imidazoloinones.loalizaiton of AHAS,th devleopental regulation of the branched chain amino acid biosynthetic pathway,and in vivo inhibition of AHAS by imidazolinones.These results illustrate the importance of takign a holistic view of herbicide activity rather than focusing solely on the site of action of the herbicide.
