The complexation of 9-fluorenone and benzophenone by hafnium salts in acetonitrile/0.2M TEA BF4 has been studied. From cyclic voltammetric studies, it has been found that both Hfi(TfO)_4 and HfCl_4 form a 1 : 1 complex with 9-fluorenone. Benzophenone also forms a 1 : 1 complex with Hf{TfO)_4. The electrochemical behavior of HfCl_4 in AN / 0.2M TEA BF_4 has also been investigated.
