The interaction of politics and economics is one of the old themes in the study of international relations. Two subjects are interwovenly related to each other in many ways. Today, realists' view that sees the primacy fothe nation-state as a principal element in international relations still exerts a powerful influence on thinking of this field. At the same time, economics-represented by the concept of the market-is also playing an important role of organizing the international order. Two opposed forms of socil organization, the modern statre and the market, which are based on the tow different categories, have evolved together to shape modern world order.
