The Flocculation Monitor is a new instrument which evlaluates headbox stocks in the same manner as Formation Testers measure the uniformity or formation of paper. A sample flow of stock from a papermachine's headbox is pased through a 13 mm. wide model headbox at a controlled flow rate. The uniformity of the stock is measured both in a relatively quiescent state and after redispersion.
