This paper presents three firsts: (1) a complete case studyrnaudit for a major oil company of well planning, wellrnconstruction and well cleanup operations in a Gulf of Mexicorn(GOM) horizontal well, and ties these practices to wellrnproductivity, (2) one of the first horizontal well productivityrnanalyses using early-time wellhead production data andrnwellbore cleanup data. (3) the direct, scaled correlation ofrnlaboratory data to field well productivity.rnOur analyses include descriptions of the inter-disciplinaryrnteam style of well planning, laboratory testing programs usingrna new drill-in fluid, details of completion operations, and arnreport on cleanup operations performed on the well beforernflowback. During early time, the well's productivity wasrnanalyzed using two separate analytical methods. Results showrnthat guidelines followed throughout the well constructionrnprocess resulted in a highly productive well completion.rnResults of this case study are intended to advance therntechnology progression of horizontal well drill-in fluid design,rnfiltercake cleanup, and to demonstrate the effect ofrnconscientious planning practices on well productivity.
