Advancements in sidetracking and re-entry operations havernprogressed greatly over the past decade. However, thesernadvancements have been predominantly in rotary applications.rnMilling systems for coiled tubing (CT) operations havernevolved much slower. Size limitations have played a majorrnrole in the technology transfer from rotary applications.rnCurrently multiple trips are required to successfully completernwindow milling operations.rnOver the last 18 months a single trip CT sidetracking systemrnhas been developed that optimizes the efficiencies of thernbottom hole assembly and the whipstock in CT sidetrackingrnoperations. This paper will discuss the bottom hole assemblyrnanalysis used to develop a specialized whipstock and mills forrncoiled tubing operations with the limited available power fromrnsmaller downhole motors.rnResults of conventional one trip rotary systems will berncompared to the new design in yard testing. These results willrnbe followed by an analysis of each of the first six field trialsrnperformed utilizing the new system in vertical and horizontalrnapplications.
