摘要

A retrospective analysis of the results of scientific research carried out over the course of several decades by different scientists has made it possible to establish a series of new, formerly unknown, laws of frost heaving soils. These laws have been confirmed by specific experiments both in laboratories and in natural conditions. These generalized laws of frost heaving soils, which act upon structures as seasonally freezing soils (or artificially frozen) or as the freezing active layer of permafrost, make it possible to estimate with a high degree of certainty the additional loads that are caused by soil movement due to frost heave. Knowledge of these additional loads makes it possible to adapt a structure to these additional forces and improve its durability, reliability and life span.
