In textile industry, nonwoven industry has exhibited a rapid growth in the past ten years. However, the selvages cutting from nonwoven possess 3 to 5% in total output of nonwoven. For recycling of textile wastes and environmental preservation, we planned to recycle polyester and polypropylene nonwoven selvages and use compression molding to produce PP/PET thermoplastic composites with function of environmental protection. In this study, different types of polyester nonwoven will be recycled and filled in the polypropylene matrix to investigate the influence of various filler types on the physical properties of PP/PET thermoplastic composites. The results showed that the relationship between tensile properties of PP/PET thermoplastic composites and fragment size of PET fillers contained plain-woven fabric was not very obvious. In addition, the tensile strength, breaking elongation, and lzod impact strength of PP/PET thermoplastic composites were improved since the existence of spun yarn segments contributed by plain-woven fabrics, but modulus was relatively reduced.
