摘要

The energy market is changing rapidly. Existing conventional substations have to be extended, refurbished or upgraded. High Voltage substations exist in various designs suited to the particular requirements. Most widely found are conventional outdoor substations that consist of individual items of equipment. Depending on the substations voltage level, a relatively large area of land may be required. In case of gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), each individual item is housed in an earthed metal-enclosure. This metal-enclosure not only provides enhanced safety and reliability since all the high voltage components are contained within a protective gas environment. Its other major advantage is the small space occupied in comparison to air insulated equipment. So far the demand for innovative solutions outdoor high-voltage transmission and distribution substations is increasing. High reliability and minimum maintenance requirements are not the only decision criteria of users; other important factors are reduced space demands and the reduction of life-cycle costs in line with a low initial capital investment. Some years ago, Siemens introduced the HIS switchgear conception. HIS stands for H)ighly I)ntegrated S)witchgear. HIS represents a GIS-adequate solution for outdoor applications with a functionality freely determinable by the user. It combines the advantages of GIS technology with the requirements of AIS substations.
