摘要

A novel process for reclaiming acetic acid from wastewater is presented. Wastewater containing dilute acetic acid is passed through a carbon adsorption bed to produce clean process water suitable for reuse. The acetic acid adsorbed in the carbon bed is then desorbed with hot water and fed along with methanol to a fixed-bed reactor charged with solid acid catalysts. Acetic acid reacts with methanol to produce methyl acetate and water, which are easily separated for reuse by conventional distillation.
