This paper reports the results of an experimntal investigation on hte performance of a contra-rotating axial flow fan stage. The influence of fators such as speed ratio, axial spacing between the rotors are examined on a 0.6 hub-tip ratio fan.The experimental invrestigation reveals that the performance o fa contra-rotating fan is affeted by these factors. Results show that in a ocntra-rotating fan stage with close axial space, rotating stall on the first rotor is suppressed when the second rotor is contra-rotated at a speed 50 percent faster than the first rotor.Under such conditions,a considerable increase in stall margin improvement and stall flow margin,as well as pressure rise and lfow rate capacity were increased.the cntra-rotating fans are more efficient and economical than fans with guide vanes (rotor-stator stage.).
