摘要

This paper introduces the design and development of axial gap spindle motor for the computer hard disk drive using printed circuit board (PCB) and dual air gap. Compared with the conventional radial gap spindle motor, it has high efficiency and small power consumption because it has negligible iron loss, and it has no cogging torque because it does not have tooth/slot structure. It is mechanically rigid and stable to mount the rotating disk. It can be effectively used for various applications of small precision spindle motors with its manufacturing flexibility.
