摘要

Traffic simulation models are now routinely used as decision support tools in many areas of transportation engineering. A wide array of highly elaborate computer modeling systems, providing among other measures of effectiveness (MOEs) congestion and environmental pollutin statistics, are currently available to support the analysis, design, and evalution of traffic systems. Amid those systems, the TRAF family of simulation models is, perhaps, the most sophisticate. The usefulness of this system is well established and has been proven in many studies. However, it is also acknowledge that until now th TRAF family of models has not achieved its full potential in transportation applications, mostly due to the amount of effort involved in creating the data base to run the simulation models.
