Desirable components to be contained in a longerterm transportation air quality framework are activity-based and trip chaining microsimulation techniques, market segmentation and incremental analysis methods, probabilistic sampling from a larger universe of data, and the use of monitoring data to supplement analytical analyses. While longer-term improvements are desirable, there are also a number of ways that current transportation air quality analytical deficiencies can be addressed with improvemetns that are achievable within "existing transportation technology."
