摘要

An intelligent sensing system based on mathematical models of the servo and the cutting mechanics in end milling processes is proposed. Cutting forces in the end milling process are computed from embedded motor control signals and cutting mechanics models without additional sensors in machine tools. Using the estimated cutting forces, depth of cut (DOC) is identified during the end milling process. Performance of the devised intelligent sensing system is verified through experiments.
