摘要

While almost all unmanned air vehicle systems recognize the importance and utility of a remote means of receiving the UA V product and incorporate that ability into the requirements of the system, the Remote Video Terminal (R VT) has long been treated as an after thought. This paper will describe the research and development being performed by CDL Systems to vastly improve the capabilities of these ancillary systems. This description will include examples of an advanced user interface that, while maintaining a simple and intuitive feel for low training overhead, greatly expands the capabilities of present RVTs. The incorporation of leading edge capabilities such as MPEG2 recording and playback, instant replay, intuitive situational awareness and the potential for remote payload control are explored and explained. It is believed that with the incorporation of these advanced yet easy-to-use capabilities, the Remote Video Terminal will become an integral and invaluable component of a modern UA V system and greatly leverage that system 's ability to disseminate the information gathered to those most in need of it in real time. Feedback from both Canadian and US Army experience will be included for validation of this assertion.
