The importance of UAVs for military and commercial use (e.g. reconnaissance, advance warning systems, continued surveillance) is being increasingly recognized. Based on the intended flight operation envelope, several types of conventional and unconventional UAVs are being considered. The sizes vary in wing-span from 10 cm (Micro) to 70 m (High altitude / endurance operation). Payloads vary from a few gm to 1000 kg. The vehicle mass and fight Reynolds number, Re, vary in size accordingly.rnThis paper concentrates on wing design and control design aspects of typical types of UAVs. Previously established attained thrust design methods have been used in the predictions on conventional an unconventional wings.rnSeveral ideas for future work have arisen.
