A Sustainable Utility requires a visionary, tactical and achievable strategic plan, a capital infrastructure improvement plan based on enterprise asset management principles and a strong financial foundation anchored by sustainable, adequate and competitive pricing. Currently, JEA is embarking on a five-year, $1 Billion Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) Program in its Water/Wastewater Systems business unit while reducing debt by over $250 million and transferring over $1/4 Billon to the City of Jacksonville. How is this accomplished while maintaining competitive rates below the median in the growing state of Florida? This presentation will highlight JEA's major initiative which begin in 2006 to bring long-term financial sustainability and strength to the Water/Wastewater business unit. This included eight consecutive years of difficult rate adjustments compounding at 210%. Also highlighted in the presentation are key elements of JEA's Strategic Planning Initiative and the CAPEX Program.
