The paper discusses the application of various heteroatomrntitanate coupling agents in PVC with a particularrnemphasis on titanate coupling agents havingrnpyrophosphato and amino functionality. The sixrnfunctions of the titanate molecule are outlined to discussrnand demonstrate: monomolecular coupling to variousrninorganic and organic fine and nano-particulate and fibers;rnin situ post-reactor catalysis in the me copolymerizationrnand regeneration of regrind in the me synergistic flamernretardance to fillers such as Mg(OH)2, ATH – and evenrnCaCO3 or nitramine explosives; improved cell structure ofrnAZO-foamed PVC plastisols by in situ metallocene-likerncatalysis of the vinyl polymer; significant decrease inrnDOP levels or increase in filler loadings for flexible PVCrnwhile maintaining elongation; improved lowerrntemperature flexibility; increased mechanical propertiesrnof Rigid PVC pipe; application techniques for Henschelrnfiller treatment; pigment dispersion and viscosity effectsrnin DOP plasticizer masterbatches. It will be shown that 2rnparts of titanate per thousand parts of unfilled polymerrnpermits extruded and injection molded parts to bernproduced at 10% lower temperature and 20% faster, whilernimproving impact strength and mechanical properties.rnNew and novel antistats that form bipolar layers ofrndissimilar organometallics will be shown to producerntransparent, permanent, non-blooming and non-moisturerndependent PVC.
