摘要

The article has researched the timber structure and the main physical- mechanics charactor of the Populus Simoniix in the Hetao Area in Inner Mongolia.The results show that the tree grows fast, its stem is straight and its lumber has straight grain, smaller density and medium and even structure, small air shrinkage difference, stable dimension, and that the timber is easy to be dried and processed, not warping and cracking, and that it has the great strength of holding nail and good quality of bonding, etc. The mechanical strength of the timber belongs to medium among populas. The timber is suitable to be made into paper pulp, bending wood, wood form, mechanical mould, manmade fibre, match, dentiscalprum and the enlarged tree species of plywood production.
