The wood anatomy of 14 species of LitseaLam China was studied comparatively. Anatomical features of Litsea were diffuse-porous. Vessel frequency ranges from 18-30 per mm2. Vessel element length 370-690μm. Perforation plates are predominantly simple, sometimes, mixed simple and sealariform plates. Intervessel pitting is mostly alternate and sometimes scalariform-opposite. Most vessel walls do not exist helical thickenings. Tylose are occurrence commonly in vessels. Septate fibres are observed in most species. Axial parenchyma is inconspicuous, sparse to vasicentric and multiseriat rays are predominantly heterocellular Ⅲ . Oil cells and mucilage cells with tanniniferous contents are common and often abundant in ray and axial parenchyma. Crystals and silica present in some species. These anatomocal characters of 14 species of Litsea present rather uniform. Some structural variation within species was discussed.
