Connecting research and market implementation in an innovation process often requires a broad range of input from many actors. Interdisciplinary research efforts have to be made, authorities, clients, production equipment industry, designers etc. have to be involved. The time frame is often a key factor. The implementation of self-compacting concrete on the Swedish market is taken as a case history on conditions and questions that have to be taken into account in the launching of an innovation that will lead to a shift in a mainstream technology.
