Introduction: 'Guangyi' whipgrass (Hemarthria compressa cv. Guangyi) is extensive used in subtropical and tropical regions of China as a pasture and fodder plant. Up to now, little experimental data are available on the relationship between soil fertility levels and forage quality of whipgrass. The objectives of this study were to determine the effect of various levels of N, P, K on the yield and quality of whipgrass during production period, and evaluate the quality in relation to the Nutrient Requirements of Dairy Cattle (2001) established by the National Research Council (NRC).
