Drivers can easily feel fatigue and apro-sexia due to the high temperature inside the truck driver cabin in summer. The current truck driver cabin air-conditioning system can not meet the needs of operating condition and environmental protection. It is a very urgent task to develop an air-conditioner system which is suitable for application in internal combustion engine truck driver cabin. This paper describes a novel adsorption air-conditioner driven by the exhaust gas from the diesel engine of truck. The working pair is ammonia and compound adsorbent. The compound adsorbent is composed of calcium chloride and activated carbon, its adsorption quantity has been tested in the laboratory. A finned tube heat exchanger is used as the adsorber unit. The air-conditioner is composed of two adso-bers, one condenser, one evaporator and one FCU (Fan Coil Unit). Because of space limitation inside the truck, the air conditioner has been made compact. In this paper, a numerical simulation by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code is carried out to predict the pressure loss in the adsorber.
