In this paper, we present simulation-based performance analysis tools for fault diagnostics algorithms. Today, there are many fault diagnostics algorithms based on SPC, Bayesian and AI. The performance of these approaches varies under different situations. Usually, limited application and/or simulation examples are presented along with the proposed algorithm. However, this limited analysis may not fully show the strengths and weaknesses of the algorithms under different scenarios. Therefore, the proposed tools are intended to provide a more complete understanding of the performance characteristics of existing algorithms. These tools are intended to be applicable to "soft-decision" based algorithms.
