An autonomous mobile humanoid robot which should be able to assist in a workshop environment and interact with a human must have the basic capability of learning manipulation tasks by demonstration. In this paper two aspects to reach this target are considered. First, how do the mechanics be constructed to be able to manipulate objects like humans do. Second, how can a programming of manipulation tasks be realized. In order to evaluate the concepts the anthropomorphic robot ARMAR has been developed.
