Since the Spanish government decided to play an important role in the promotion of the use of renewable energies, and it established a profitable legal frame to encourage this type of installations, the number of grid connected PV systems in Spain is increasing remarkably. In this context, we present the Lorca PV Solar Park. This Park consists in the installation of a PV Plant of 7 MW that will be placed in Lorca (Murcia), in South Eastern Spain. This village has an average annual horizontal irradiation of 1,700 kWh/m2 and an average annual ambient temperature of 16oC. The PV Plant will comprise 64 identical PV Systems, about 110-kWp rated each. The PV generator of each one of these systems is composed of twelve two-axis tracking panels of 70 m2 each one. This PV generator is connected to a 100-kW central inverter. We have specially analyzed all the aspects that maximize the energy generation and minimize the cost of the PV Plant and all the aspects related to the safety and protection systems. Finally, we have estimated the annual energy production of the PV Plant around of 211 MWh/year with an annual productivity close to 2,000 kWh/kWp.
