摘要

Carborundum Universal Limited (CUMI) in its abrasives manufacturing plant atTiruvottiyur, India, is equipped with furnace oil fired boiler to generate heat energy requiredfor processes. In order to reduce pollution and cut down fuel cost, CUMI have establishedgasifier to generate producer gas to work as main fuel along with furnace oil through a dual fuelburner.The paper describes unique nature of the operation of the package boiler with aninterrupted delivery of heat energy due to varying load conditions and methods adopted to co-fireboth furnace oil and producer gas. Successful implementation of this scheme has confirmed easyconversion of oil fired boiler to accommodate biomass fuel by retrofitting dual fuel burner andgasifier to it.
