In this work, we evaluate the forward link capacity and coverage of a CDMA Manhattan like microcellular system in terms of Walsh channels for high data rate users, using a static Monte Carlo simulation. Two different cell plans are considered: the full- and half-square cell plans. In order to obtain the maximun forward link capacity, we found that the breakpoint distance must be less than 0.7 the cell radius. The impact of the pilot detection threshold (T_ADD) is also analyzed and according to our results, we suggest that its value should be less than or equal to -8 dB for a Manhattan environment. The evaluation is realized for IS-95B and due to the similarities with both the Radio Configuration 1 and 2 of CDMA 2000, this approach can also be applied to those systems.
