'Made in China': Ethnocentrism of Young Chinese

The purpose of this study is to examine the extent to which young Chinese buy or their tendency to buy 'made in China' products and explore the young Chinese' ethnocentrism. The sample of the study consisted of 180 undergraduates and masters students studying in Wuhan University of Technology and Wuhan University in China. The content analysis with mean values and percentages was done based on the data gathered through the formal questionnaire developed based on CETSCALE measure and the depth discussions held with the respondents. The study found that the respondents' tendency to buy 'made in China' products is low and tendency to buy foreign made products is high. Also the study had focused on the possible causes for accepting foreign made products rather than home made products. And at the end the implications for decision making is highlighted in marketing perspective.
