Assessment of the educational process is necessary to enrich the curriculum. Assessment surveys were traditionally done with pen and paper only; however, with the advent of the Internet, new web-based assessment procedures could be authored.; WebCLASSE is a web-based software solution proposed for supporting the CLASSE assessment method. By using WebCLASSE, faculty and student surveys are conducted online, instant reports are shown to the students on survey completion, and several result visualizations in detailed reports are provided to the faculty and the department. These graphical representations help identify causes of concern and minimize the levels of incongruence between the faculty's expected and actual levels of student engagement.; This thesis describes the benefits of online surveys and the importance of assessment and provides details on the proposed WebCLASSE software solution, its specification, design, and implementation. Several directions of future work are also discussed and a summary of contributions is included.
