摘要

Synchronization is one of the vital activities widely performed by the mobile world users in order to either maintain their backup or retrieve their old stored information. This information can mean different things to different people such as contact list, calendar with scheduled events, personal photos, personal short videos, any important text files, music files, any important emails, important sms, any memos etc. Different mobile manufacturers, application developers and service providers use different standards for synchronizing different applications. Therefore, it is very difficult for user of one service provider to get the data of another service provider because of incompatibility of the synchronization standards with each other, that is the protocols used by the mobile manufacturer and application developers are different for different service providers.;SyncML is a common standard protocol developed by a group of companies to solve the issue of incompatibility when exchanging data through different service providers or synchronizing data through some other mobile of different manufacture. There are several ways of synchronizing data from cell phone: using USB or Bluetooth we can upload the contact list to the desktop or using GPRS we can upload the contact list to the server of the service provider etc. One novel way of updating the contact list proposed in this research is through an email address. The contact list can be stored in the user's email account. Similarly all the applications like calendar, memos, music, text, email, videos etc can also be stored in a user's email account.
