This project proposes a novel block-wise method of watermarking to embed some information bits into the discrete cosine transform domain image. This method uses a new direct current component embedding method to embed the information with an adaptive embedding strength that is decided by the human visual system. A spread spectrum technique that has been widely adopted for image and video watermarking codes the watermark information. Restoring the synchronization between host and probe images achieves the rotation, scaling, and translation (RST) resilience. The watermark is detected based on the correlation between the recovered and embedded watermarks. Our proposed RST-invariant watermarking approach demonstrates a better performance as compared with some other peer systems. Although the main advantage of our proposed watermarking method is robustness to RST attacks, the experimental results also demonstrate the robustness of the method against some common image processing operations such as JPEG compression, median filtering, and Gaussian filtering.
