摘要

Computer based information systems are constantly being implemented by organizations with often dismal results. Previous research in technology adoption and technology acceptance has primarily focused on describing the high level processes that organizations engage in when attempting to implement new types of technology. This work extends that research by identifying the lower level sensemaking processes that drive technology acceptance. A new model entitled Technology Acceptance Sensemaking Process (TASP) is offered as a depiction of this lower level process. This study incorporates responses from 126 tellers employed by 7 1ocal Mid-West banks. Results demonstrate the significance of 9 distinct sensemaking cues as predictors of the technology acceptance process. Additionally, this study provides evidence that various trigger conditions moderate the technology acceptance processes.
