Distributed algorithms have shown great potential in solving control problems of large-scale systems. Recent study shows that economic dispatch of hundreds of generators can be solved by consensus based distributed algorithm effectively. This study extended the leader-follower Incremental Cost Consensus (ICC) algorithm to a leaderless version. The proposed Leaderless ICC (LICC) algorithm is able to continuously track load difference of the system and dispatch generators without a leader. A detailed power system model based on IEEE 14-bus system including five synchronous generators with frequency control and voltage regulation has been implemented in Matlab/Simulink and RT-LAB. The effectiveness of proposed LICC algorithm has been demonstrated on the real-time power system simulator. The proposed LICC algorithm is flexible for different system configurations in the sense that the performance of the algorithm can be tuned by control parameters such as the update weighting matrix and the convergence step size.
