摘要

Information Assurance is a new field that is rapidly evolving in information systems and technology. Since the 90’s the need for security professionals became a reality, bringing together industry, government and academic sectors to define current and possible upcoming requirements for information assurance and security education. This thesis presents the development of core courses for a Master Degree curriculum in Information Assurance and Security (MS IAS) with a Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) that is: critical for practicing professionals in information assurance; provides students with professional skills and knowledge to excel in their professions; and provides stakeholders with a clear and concise accounting of the knowledge and skills to be learned. The CBK is based on mapping the courses to the information security elements that are required to fulfill the needs of: the industry, government, academia, CISSP domains, NSTISSI standards, and the NIST. The results show the approach, focus, and roles that each course has in the knowledge areas.
