The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to explore the factors that increased diseases in rural communities. The study used a modified van Kaam method by Moustakas (1994). Using the modified van Kaam method, data was collected and analyzed to identify common themes. The goal of the current qualitative, phenomenological study was to explore the lived experiences of 15 participants, who included five rural residents, five medical personnel, and five physicians. Fourteen participants were interviewed face-to-face, which the participants expressed lived experiences with rural health care. The findings from the study indicated rural residents are in need of medical specialists (particularly those who specialize in cardiology, oncology, wellness, diabetes, orthopedics, and nutrition); the need for preventable health care resources; the need for medical and technological information; and rural communities are in need of resource centers that provide medical information on different chronic diseases, and sexually transmitted diseases. Rural residents' consistent answers to the research questions provided a basis for the analysis of the lived experiences.
