摘要

Women are starting to break through the "Glass Ceiling" barrier only to find themselves up against additional challenges once this barrier has been penetrated. An additional emerging challenge women face in the workforce has been coined the glass cliff phenomenon. This phenomenon is the experience of women being placed in leadership positions in more problematic organizational circumstances; therefore, the leadership positions assigned to women are considered more precarious than their male counterparts (Haslam & Ryan, 2005). Haslam and Ryan have conducted several studies researching the glass cliff phenomena in the United Kingdom. The main objective of this quantitative study is to reveal if the phenomenon is present in the government contracting industry within the United States.
