Uppermost Cambrian (?) through Lower Silurian strata in Mazourka Canyon and the Talc City Hills in the Inyo Mountains region of California can be grouped into five third-order sequences bounded by unconformities marked by basal conglomerates, facies mismatches, and the development of karst features.; The lowest sequence boundary separates the Upper Cambrian (?) Tamarack Canyon Dolomite from the overlying Ordovician Al Rose Formation. The second boundary is placed at the base of the Eureka Quartzite in the Talc City Hills and about 10 m below the top of the Badger Flat Limestone in Mazourka Canyon. The third boundary lies at the base of the Johnson Spring Formation in Mazourka Canyon and is 24 m above the base of the Eureka Quartzite the Talc City Hills, and the fourth boundary occurs just above the contact between the lower (Upper Ordovician) and middle (Lower Silurian) members of the Ely Springs Dolomite. Correlation of these sequence boundaries cratonward is somewhat problematic due to their outboard position on the paleoshelf.
