摘要

The 21 century organization operates in a very complex and competitive global environment characterized by the need for knowledge management. Knowledge management is relied upon to deliver consistently high quality customer experience. Although a substantial amount of research has been conducted in the area of human resource management and knowledge management, the literature has not fully addressed the way in which human resource management professionals perceive their role, in the process of knowledge management within their organization. This study explored the perceived role of human resource management professionals, in the process of knowledge management within their organization. The study involved 20 human resource management professionals employed at a massive faith-based nonprofit hospital with eight campuses in a South Atlantic state.;Findings from this study indicate that human resource professionals at the participating hospital recognize that their role in effective knowledge management is vital for the delivery of high quality patient care for the benefit of the organization. The study will therefore advance the research literature in the field of knowledge management and human resource management. Specifically, it will help support the need for organizations to develop effective knowledge management initiatives in order to gain competitive advantage.
