Adult education is a relatively new market. Although there has been a sharp increase in the number of schools and programs that educate the adult student, there is not much information on how to service the needs of the adult student. Since this is both a new and growing market, educators may not understand the nature of the success of schools who work with adult students. Many schools, especially for-profit schools, are offering similar teaching/learning models; therefore, the success of schools in the future will be those who are different in their customer/student services. The problem is schools continue to compare their level of student service with merely other schools. Adult students expect a different level of service than the 18–22 year old student.; This study compared the level of customer service satisfaction at a for-profit school with other industries. The study found that providing quality customer service does not sacrifice the quality of the product. This allows schools to gain a better understanding of how to best meet the needs of the adult student. Since adult students view education as an investment, this study analyzed other industries that reflect consumer interest in gaining a return on investment. In addition, this study provided recommendations for other schools and their branch campuses on how to provide the best level of service to the adult student without compromising academic integrity. It is an anticipation that the findings of this study might lead future studies in providing quality customer/student service to the adult student.
