"Bosworth, 1485: A Tactical-Level Simulation of the Battle of Bosworth" portrays one of the most influential battles in English history. The simulation allows students to experience some of the difficulties in commanding a medieval army. It enhances the understanding of the strategies and tactics employed by King Richard III and Henry Tudor. The simulation takes the form of a boxed game, and includes a detailed historical discussion derived from both primary sources and modern analysis; a map of the battlefield overlayed with a hexagonal grid; rules that account for Loyalty and Leadership; and playing pieces. The discussion includes a study of the disputed terrain of the battlefield. The goal for the simulation is not to force students to undertake the historical courses of action. Rather, the simulation allows players freedom of action within the limits of those options that were available to their medieval counterparts.
