摘要

The purpose of this study was to assess the knowledge and awareness of MSW students enrolled in the Older Adults and Families (OAF) concentration at CSULB, with regard to community-based care services. Respondents were given a questionnaire that explored the following areas: (1) knowledge of service definitions; (2) respondents' experience with providing referrals; (3) knowledge of possible payment sources for services; (4) knowledge of services that require service initiation by a physician; (5) issues of cultural sensitivity within services; and (6) issues related to knowledge acquisition.;The results of the statistical analyses demonstrated that those who worked in more community-based care settings were significantly more knowledgeable about the funding sources of services. However, overall, the results of the study illustrated that while MSW (OAF) students seem to have a general awareness of community-based care services, there remains a need and desire for additional education in this area.
