摘要

This is a comparative study of the information systems and policies of Singapore and Myanmar. What links both countries and distinguishes them from the United States is that their cultures and history create a powerful rationale for government control of information access and dissemination. However, the degree of control and determination to isolate populations from western viewpoints differs markedly between the two nations and reflects their unique economic and political agendas. Recent electronic information dissemination policies of both countries impact directly global information flow.; Research for this study is based on principles of comparative studies and utilizes qualitative methodology. These principles and their linked methodology are based on the idea that it is important to understand the historical, socio-economic and political traditions of a country in order to evaluate information systems and policies.
